Animal Kingdom: 406 S The Strand

Serving as the filming location for Baz’s cozy beach cottage, this oceanfront address brought a rare touch of domestic warmth to the Cody family's chaos. The home was particularly loved by his daughter, Lena, and was later passed between family members, with Pope keeping the cottage in Season 3 to preserve her memory of it. Since this is a privately owned residence, fellow fans should use discretion and admire the home strictly from the Strand.

Animal Kingdom: Harbor Pelican Deli

This local harbor spot featured in Season 3, Episode 10, brings real-life O'side charm directly to the screen. By featuring actual businesses like this deli, the show prioritized local flavor and real-life surf culture over Hollywood soundstages.

Animal Kingdom: Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater

As a key filming location for the high-stakes Season 2 finale, this beachside stage is where J (played by Finn Cole) sits with his girlfriend Nicky, quietly discussing the shocking contents of his birth certificate.

Animal Kingdom: Larry's Beach Club

Located on South Tremont Street, this gritty local dive served as a recurring hangout for the Cody brothers, anchoring the show in authentic O'side culture. To give the series an organic local feel, the production filmed directly on-site, using the bar's real name and hiring real servers to work in the background. It is one of over 70 local filming locations that helped establish Oceanside as a true "character in and of itself."

Animal Kingdom: Lifeguard Tower #9

Familiar to fans from the series' scenic coastal transition shots, this iconic tower was a frequent on-screen sight.

Animal Kingdom: Oceanside Municipal Airport

High-adrenaline action takes center stage on this runway in Season 1, Episode 4, when the Cody brothers jump out of a plane to celebrate Pope’s birthday. What is meant to be a bonding trip quickly takes a tense turn when the brothers accidentally reveal their independent criminal activities to one another. Thrill-seeking fans can visit GoJump Oceanside at this very airport to experience the same heart-pounding skyline views.

Animal Kingdom: Oceanside Municipal Pier

The iconic pier — frequently recognized as one of the longest wooden over-water piers on the entire West Coast of the U.S. — serves as a constant visual anchor for the Cody family's dangerous world throughout the entire six-season run. It perfectly frames the show's tense, "Family 'til the end" atmosphere, providing a dramatic backdrop for their ongoing criminal enterprise.

Animal Kingdom: Pacific Street Linear Park

This scenic coastal park offered a beautiful backdrop for some of the show's local outdoor scenes.

Animal Kingdom: Surf Bowl

Serving the community since 1945, this local spot takes on a much darker role on screen. In Animal Kingdom, Joshua "J" Cody buys the bowling alley with cash stolen from Smurf, using it as a legitimate business front to launder the family’s illicit money. Today, fans can drop by this retro staple to experience a real-life piece of local history that doubled as a Cody asset.

Bring It On: Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater

This seaside stage famously hosted the legendary final cheerleading showdown — the UCA National Championships — in the 2000 cult classic. Whether you were rooting for the Clovers or the Toros, this is the exact spot where the high-energy routines, "spirit fingers," and cinematic magic went down.

Purple Hearts: Camp Pendleton

This active military base anchored the authentic backdrop for the 2022 Netflix hit, which filmed extensively on location to bring the story's military community to life. While civilians cannot enter the active base, you can still safely capture a piece of the movie's spirit by taking a photo next to the iconic official monument sign at the Main Gate just off Vandegrift Boulevard. To see it without needing base access, set your navigation to the Camp Pendleton Visitor Center; the massive sign is located right before the security guard's checkpoints and turnaround area.

Purple Hearts: Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater

Serving as the "Oceanside Alt Fest" main stage, this iconic beachside arena is where Cassie Salazar (Sofia Carson) performs the movie’s standout ballad "Come Back Home." In an incredible filming twist, the crew shot this sequence during the real-life Super Girl Surf Pro festival; Sofia Carson headlined the real festival concert as herself first, then changed into character as Cassie to belt out the emotional song in front of the genuine live crowd.

Purple Hearts: Tremont Street

This local roadway serves as the backdrop for one of the film’s most intimate character moments as Cassie Salazar walks the neighborhood; she paces the sidewalk to make her third attempt to call Luke, leaving a heartfelt voicemail to teasingly tell her "muse" that the song he "may or may not have influenced" is officially going viral. This makes it the perfect street to stroll local businesses and listen to the movie’s soundtrack.

Real Housewives: Mission Pacific Beach Resort

Voted the 2024 No. 1 resort in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure, this luxury destination hosted the Beverly Hills cast for their memorable "Life's a Beach" getaway. Guests today can book a dedicated "Housewives Escape" package to receive 20% off their stay and a welcome bottle of champagne to relive the A-list experience.

Real Housewives: Oceanside City Beach

This scenic shoreline hosted a luxurious beach picnic curated by Piper, complete with elegant floral arrangements and a lounge setup directly in the sand. The beach quickly turned into a playground when the ladies competed in a relay race holding Kathy Hilton-faced paddles and played a wild round of "duck, duck, goose." It is the ultimate spot for a glamorous afternoon of coastal vibes, though hopefully you won't wipe out in the sand as Dorit Kemsley famously did.

Real Housewives: Oceanside Harbor

The ladies departed from this bustling harbor for a sun-soaked afternoon of yachting and lunch — courtesy of The Rooftop Bar — on the water, which Sutton and Garcelle jokingly likened to "divorce court" due to the heavy group drama. The trip featured a major highlight when Sutton Stracke became smitten with Captain Theo, prompting the other housewives to have him carry her off the boat.

Real Housewives: The Rooftop Bar

This beautiful Mission Pacific spot sets the stage for Sutton Stracke's ribbon-binding sisterhood ritual designed to mend the group's fractured friendships. The other cast members struggled to take the moment seriously, with Erika Jayne mocking it as "cheer camp" and Dorit Kemsley dryly confessing she saved a piece of the sash just in case she needed to strangle someone later.

Real Housewives: Top Gun House

The housewives had a high-energy arrival right in front of this historic 1888 Victorian cottage, where they were greeted with a champagne reception and a surprise appearance by a Tom Cruise lookalike. Acting as a nostalgic bridge between Hollywood's cinematic history and modern reality TV, the house immediately set up a glamorous tone for their O’side trip.

Real Housewives: Valle

One of Oceanside's MICHELIN-selected restaurants provided a sophisticated but high-pressure backdrop for Kathy Hilton's tense group dinner. While the rest of the cast stared silently at their plates to avoid the crossfire, the elegant dining room became a verbal battleground as Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley’s long-standing feud erupted.

Top Gun: The Graves House

Originally built in 1888 as a summer cottage for Dr. Henry Graves, this Victorian gem gained global fame as "Charlie’s House" in the 1986 blockbuster. Fans often recall the iconic scene of Tom Cruise’s Maverick riding his motorcycle past the palm-lined street outside this very home. After a meticulous restoration, the house was moved to its current location at the Mission Pacific Beach Resort, where it now serves as an airport-themed gelato shop (An's Gate D5) filled with film memorabilia in the back lounge.

Veronica Mars: Oceanside High School

This historic campus famously stood as Neptune High, with Oceanside as a whole serving as the creative blueprint for the show's gritty teen noir setting. In a legendary production slip-up, the show accidentally broadcast the real school's name and its Oceanside Pirates mascot at the start of Season 1, Episode 2, instead of the fictional Neptune High logo. Since this remains an active school today, fellow Marshmallows should admire the beautiful architecture strictly from the sidewalk to avoid disturbing the students during the school day.

Zorro: Mission San Luis Rey

Known as the "King of the Missions," this historic landmark provided the grand architectural backdrop for the 1957 production of Zorro. Its sacred walls became central to the plot when a political refugee sought sanctuary here, forcing Diego to don his mask, free mistreated workers, and famously stage a midnight "haunting" using smoke and a white sheet to terrify the superstitious garrison. Today, it remains one of Oceanside's most notable landmarks, bridging early Hollywood storytelling and the city's deep cultural history.

Zorro: Skull and Cross Bones

Positioned above the entrance to North San Diego County's oldest operating burial ground, the striking skull-and-crossbones motif was installed by Walt Disney Studios when they replaced the cemetery gates during the 1950s filming. While a traditional detail of Franciscan burial sites, Disney specially incorporated this custom feature in the archway to capture their desired Hollywood aesthetic.
